“The Evangelist” in Fire From the Heart

A poem by Katherine Koller, “The Evangelist,” is a winner in the Muriel’s Journey Poetry Prize 2025. It will be published in October 2025 in Fire From the Heart, an annual chapbook published by Three Ocean Press featuring all the winners and finalists: “The Muriel’s Journey Poetry Prize honours the vitality, vivacity, and outspoken presence of poet-activist Muriel Marjorie, who passed on in the fall of 2018. As an Indigenous social justice activist, poet, and spoken word artist, what Muriel had to say would often literally wake you up.” Part of the entry requirement for poets is evidence of community involvement.

Katherine Koller and the other winners from this prize will be reading their poems at Muriel’s Journey Poetry at Word Vancouver on September 14.
