Courtney Little Theatre’s Play Club reads Riverkeeper on Sunday, January 18, 2-4 pm, at the Studio in Comox, BC. Director Annie Smith says: “Riverkeeper, by Katherine Koller, plays with time and place in intriguing ways. The theme of the play is about finding one’s heritage, the mothers that have been lost through two generations. The central image of the play is the river, a metaphor for the life blood flowing from mother to daughter. In real time, the character, River, is an aging woman searching to find memories and images of her parents when they were young. River brings them to life as she paddles the river she is named for. River’s time is 60+ years in our future and Naia and Dylan live in our present.
River is read by Mary-Lynn Culbert, Dylan by Tim Petkau, and Naia by Lauren Miller. Stage Directions read by Hazel Lennox. Riverkeeper was workshopped at Theatre BC Mainstage Festival in Fort St. John, BC, in July 2025.
